Text Box: IELTS General Information:
	IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to measure the language ability of candidates who want to work or study where English is the language of communication.   IELTS is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), the British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia.  
	IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment.  It covers the four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.  IELTS is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.  It is also recognized by professional organizations, immigration authorities, and other governments.  
	IELTS is an alternative test to the TOEFL and is administered at PALS, Rutgers-Newark.  This test is accepted by Rutgers-Newark and many other universities in the USA.

	The IELTS test has two forms: the Academic test/module and the General Training test/module.  The module that you take depends on the reason you are taking it.  The Academic module is for people who want to gain entry into undergraduate or postgraduate education courses or who have professional reasons for taking the test.  The General Training module is for those who wish to enroll in vocational or training courses, in secondary schools, or who need the test for immigration purposes.
	The IELTS test (both Academic and General Training modules) is divided into four parts by langauge skill: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.  The Listening and Speaking tests are exactly the same for both modules, but the Reading and Writing tests are different.  Thus, the test appears like this (in the order that one would take the different parts):
